Screening for Plagiarism Policy

Screening for Plagiarism Policy

HAPDIS (Harmoni Pendidikan, Islam dan Sains) strictly opposes any form of plagiarism, fabrication, data falsification, and academic misconduct. We are committed to publishing only original material that has not been previously published or is currently under review elsewhere.

Screening Process and Tools To maintain the highest standards of publication ethics and academic integrity, every manuscript submitted to HAPDIS will undergo a rigorous similarity check. The editorial board uses Turnitin (or iThenticate) to screen all submitted manuscripts for unoriginal content.

Similarity Threshold

  • The maximum acceptable overall similarity index is 20%.

  • The similarity from any single source must not exceed 5%.

  • The screening excludes the bibliography/references, properly cited quotes, and author affiliations.

Consequences of Plagiarism

  • Prior to Review: If a manuscript exceeds the 20% similarity threshold during the initial screening, it will be returned to the author for revision or immediately rejected without undergoing the peer-review process.

  • During or After Review: If plagiarism is identified during the review process, the review will be halted, and the manuscript will be rejected.

  • Post-Publication: If plagiarism is proven after the article has been published, HAPDIS reserves the right to formally retract the article, publish a retraction notice, and notify the author's affiliated institution in accordance with COPE guidelines.
