Generative AI Policy

Policy on the Use of Generative AI and AI-Assisted Technologies

The Journal of Elementary Education and Learning Science (JEELS) follows the latest international ethical guidelines regarding the use of Generative AI in scientific writing.

  1. Authorship Credit: AI tools (such as ChatGPT, Bard, or similar Large Language Models) cannot be listed as an author or co-author on any manuscript submitted to JEELS. AI does not meet the criteria for authorship as it cannot take responsibility for the submitted work, nor can it manage copyright and legal requirements.

  2. Disclosure Requirement: Authors who use generative AI or AI-assisted technologies in the writing process, image generation, or data collection must disclose this in their manuscript. A statement should be included in a dedicated section (e.g., "Declaration of Generative AI in the Writing Process") before the References.

  3. Scope of Use: AI should only be used to improve the readability and language of the manuscript (e.g., grammar checking or paraphrasing). Authors are strictly responsible for the technical, scientific, and educational accuracy of the content.

  4. Prohibitions: Using AI to fabricate data, manipulate educational observations, or generate falsified learning evidence is a grave violation of research integrity and will result in immediate rejection or retraction.

  5. Reviewer Policy: Peer reviewers are strictly prohibited from uploading submitted manuscripts into generative AI tools, as this violates the confidentiality of the double-blind review process.
